Serenity
As the soft light filters through my window, I close my eyes.
My ceiling fan and the children playing outside —
a calm, familiar sound to my ears.
Odd how those quiet moments are the ones that stick with you.
Nothing unusual.
Nothing spectacular.
Yet those seconds of peace in my childhood room
are something I’ll still think of in ten years.
The cold duvet beneath my fingertips.
My bookshelf in the corner.
An inimitable feeling.
One I will never experience again.
But one I will always seek to return to.
Anagrammed Poem
close my eyes, cold light
familiar filters unusual quiet
spectacular nothing, quiet feeling
peace in ten years?
through moments experience again
odd one in the corner
you are the one i seek
a room in childhood,
a ceiling playing sound
beneath my fingertips
I stick with you
return to children
