"On A Cool Winter Evening"

I watch the wind sway, as
if it were just coming in
through the door. At a restaurant,
all the lights look like stars
coming from millions of
miles away. Sometimes I dream of
all these boats passing, bobbing,
like little heads saying hello. Life
was once but a dream. The waiter
asks Fish or meat? I don’t dare
to think of myself as a creature
with any control. Once, I was here
as a horse. Soldier-less, wildly
alone, I bent down to drink the cool
glacier water.
