The First Poem I Ever Wrote: "Fall Season" by Tiffany Kom

Autumn sparks through my eyes,
slivered fish dappled with light.
I always keep coming back
with fresh perspective to see a better sight.
Summer slipped from my grasp
and came down with a long sigh.
They jump from the high eaves of
green grass, baiting a wandering eye.
These silken sleeves of leaves
that batter the blue sky. Spring
is not here long to stay. I caught
a dandelion coming through
the open window and sent it
on its way.
Q: What does this poem mean to you, Tiffany?
A: I wrote it when I was quite younger, and I've always loved the fall season. I was reading a lot of old poetry back then, so I wanted it to rhyme. Something about fall reminds me of things recurring, so it's nice that this fall I can come back to a poem I wrote in a fall a long time ago.
